Miranda’s background in the pastry arts, education and linguistics make her not only unique, but also the perfect person to run G&B’s Teaching Kitchen. “This position is the perfect crossroads of everything I’ve done,” Miranda said. “I’m really excited to step into this role!”
Miranda grew up in Denver and at age 15, she started working at Rheinlander Bakery. She continued to perfect her skills at bakeries, hotels and restaurants, specializing in cake decorating. Meanwhile, she received her bachelor’s in linguistics from Regis University followed by a master’s degree from CU-Boulder.
Since then, she’s balanced both passions, working as a pastry chef and as a dialect coach for actors, teaching them how to speak in accents for specific roles. She also taught voice, speech and accents at University of Northern Colorado.
“The Teaching Kitchen offers a great opportunity to have a career, one job that I can enjoy that pays the bills, so I can continue to do my side quests,” Miranda said. “I’m looking forward to bringing my pastry experience into the TK, offering more pastry classes and finding more new and exciting ways to share cooking with the community.”
When not working, Miranda enjoys gardening, arts and crafting, reading and hiking with her cattle dog, Charlie. She also enjoys traveling with her partner, Chris, and practicing accents wherever they land.
Her favorite pie: “I’ll never say no to French silk pie.”
