SUMMARY:TK: Chef's Table October
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy an in-depth\, multi-course dining experience at our Chef’s Table in the Teaching Kitchen! \nEach month\, we gather in the relaxed atmosphere in the TK and watch as G&B chefs prepare a five-course meal showcasing all the amazing ingredients available here in Northern Colorado. Throughout the evening\, the chefs will talk about each course\, demonstrate techniques and offer tastings. Somm wine pairings can also be added to your meal. \nThis month\, the theme will be “Art on a Plate.” Chef Raj and Kolton will interpret some of their favorite artists’ works as plates of food. Influences include Yayoi Kusama\, Mark Rothko and abstract artists like Pollock\, Twombly\, Kandinsky and Miro. We can’t wait to see how Raj and Kolton bring this theme to life using peak fall ingredients from the farm\, farmer’s market and local partners. \nThere are just 20 seats available\, and it’s been a fun\, sold-out event every month since we launched. We hope you can join us for an evening at the Chef’s Table. \n  \nMenu to come!\n\nOctober’s Chefs\n \nRaj Patrawala\, Teaching Kitchen Chef Instructor \n \nKolton Faulkner\, Culinary Team\, The Cache \n  \nPolicies \n\nTeaching Kitchen Class and In-House Event tickets are non-refundable. If you need to reschedule up to one week before your booked event\, please contact us to transfer your ticket to a different event. Within one week of your class\, we can only offer a transfer if we are able to re-sell the tickets\, as product has already been purchased.  In the case of emergency\, please contact us at (970) 286-0503 or teachingkitchen@gingerandbaker.com and we will do our best to accommodate.\nIf you would like to transfer your tickets to a different guest\, please forward your email confirmation to them and ensure they check in with the name and email address used to purchase the tickets.\nWe reserve the right to cancel due to low attendance\, inclement weather\, or emergency. We will notify all participants by email at least 24 hours prior to the event to let you know of cancellations\, and you will have the option to be refunded to the original payment method\, or to apply your ticket price to another class or event.\nThis event is intended for adults\, ages 18+.

Bonny Reichert avoided everything to do with the Holocaust until she found herself\, in midlife\, suddenly typing those words into an article she was writing. The journalist had grown up hearing stories about her father’s near-starvation and ultimate survival in Auschwitz-Birkenau\, but she never imagined she would be able to face this epic legacy head on. Then a chance encounter with a perfect bowl of borscht in Warsaw set Bonny on a journey to unearth her culinary lineage\, and she began to dig for the roots of her food obsession\, dish by dish. Tracing the defining moments of her life\, from her colorful childhood in the restaurant business to the crumbling of her first marriage and the intensity of young motherhood\, her decision to become a chef and that life-altering visit to Poland\, the author recounts a tale of scarcity and plenty\, stepping into the kitchen to connect her past to her future. Whether it’s the flaky potato knishes and molasses porridge bread she learned to bake at her Baba Sarah’s elbow\, the creamy vichyssoise she taught herself to cook in her tiny student apartment\, or the brown butter eggs her father\, now 93\, still scrambles for her whenever she needs comfort\, cuisine is both an anchor and an identity; a source of joy and a signifier of survival. How to Share an Egg is a journey of deep flavors and surprising contrasts. By turns sweet\, salty\, sour\, and bitter\, this is one woman’s search to find her voice as a writer\, chef\, mother and daughter. Do the tiny dramas of her own life matter in comparison to everything her father has seen and done? This moving exploration of heritage\, inheritance\, and self-discovery sets out to find the answer. \nIf you are looking to dive into next month’s delicious read\, in November we will be reading My (Half) Latinx Kitchen by Kiera Ruiz-Wright. Check out the list for the rest of the year here! \nPolicies \n\nTeaching Kitchen Class and In-House Event tickets are non-refundable.
