SUMMARY:TK: March Book Club
DESCRIPTION:**Registration will open on 1/1/26 \nJoin Ginger and the team for a lively discussion on this month’s food themed book\, High on the Hog by Jessica B. Harris. \nFood and drink will be available for purchase during the event and a complimentary snack from the book will be served. \nIn order to reserve your space\, there is a ticket fee of $10. This fee will be used as a credit toward food/drink purchased at book club. \nVisit Old Firehouse Books in Old Town to purchase your book – Book Club books purchased at Old Firehouse the month before or month of book club receive a 20% discount for being a part of the Ginger and Baker Book Club! \nMore about High on the Hog by Jessica B. Harris. \nAcclaimed cookbook author Jessica B. Harris has spent much of her life researching the food and foodways of the African Diaspora. High on the Hog is the culmination of years of her work\, and the result is a most engaging history of African American cuisine. Harris takes the reader on a harrowing journey from Africa across the Atlantic to America\, tracking the trials that the people and the food have undergone along the way. From chitlins and ham hocks to fried chicken and vegan soul\, Harris celebrates the delicious and restorative foods of the African American experience and details how each came to form such an important part of African American culture\, history\, and identity. Although the story of African cuisine in America begins with slavery\, High on the Hog ultimately chronicles a thrilling history of triumph and survival. The work of a masterful storyteller and an acclaimed scholar\, Jessica B. Harris’s High on the Hog fills an important gap in our culinary history. \nIf you are looking to dive into next month’s delicious read\, in April we will be reading The Kitchen Front by Jennifer Ryan. Check out the list for the rest of the year here! \n  \nPolicies \n\nTeaching Kitchen Class and In-House Event tickets are non-refundable. If you need to reschedule up to one week before your booked event\, please contact us to transfer your ticket to a different event. Within one week of your class\, we can only offer a transfer if we are able to re-sell the tickets\, as product has already been purchased.  In the case of emergency\, please contact us at (970) 286-0503 or teachingkitchen@gingerandbaker.com and we will do our best to accommodate.\nIf you would like to transfer your tickets to a different guest\, please forward your email confirmation to them and ensure they check in with the name and email address used to purchase the tickets.\nWe reserve the right to cancel due to low attendance\, inclement weather\, or emergency.
